AHS girls improve to 5-0Posted Wednesday, March 25, 2009 by Sand Mountain Reporter AHS girls improve to 5-0 Albertville 2, Arab 1: Monday night, the Lady Aggies knocked off Class 5A, third-ranked Arab at Arab. “It was our biggest win this season,” said Albertville head coach Carrie Dixon. Brooke Ann Styke scored early in the match, giving the Lady Aggies a 1-0 lead. Anna Clair Compton got Albertville’s second goal midway through the first half. The Lady Knights scored in the second half. “We possessed the ball in Arab territory most of the first half,” Dixon said. “We took several shots that went wide of the goal. “It was exciting to take the shots, but finishing and finding the back of the goal, of course, is our ultimate goal. “It was extremely cold, and the field was wet from the rain and snow over the weekend. “My girls played hard and never quit. There was a time in the second half when we lost our shape, but they didn’t panic, they backed each other up well and they regained their composure. “Arab is a good, physically strong team. We are happy to come away with a win.” Albertville 3, Madison County 0: The Lady Aggies triumphed Tuesday night on McCord Field at Aggie Stadium. Compton netted the only goal of the opening half. |
